Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 4, 2026
Annona is built so that your personal data doesn't have to leave your phone. This policy explains what stays on your device, what the app's few third-party services process, and the choices you have.
What stays on your device
Everything you create in Annona is stored locally on your device only:
- Your onboarding answers (goals, meal preferences, household size, calorie and nutrition targets)
- Ingredients you like, meals you favorite or exclude
- Your generated week plans, shopping-list check-offs, and eaten-meal tracking
We operate no servers for this data, there are no accounts, and we cannot see, collect, sell or share any of it. Deleting the app permanently deletes this data.
Advertising
The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may process device information (such as advertising identifiers, IP address, and coarse device characteristics) to serve and measure ads, as described in Google's Privacy Policy.
- On iOS, personalized ads are only enabled if you allow tracking in the system prompt (App Tracking Transparency). If you decline, ads are non-personalized.
- Purchasing Premium removes all advertising, and with it AdMob's processing.
Purchases
The one-time Premium purchase is processed entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We receive no payment details. Purchase state is verified against your store account, which is also how "Restore Purchases" works on a new device.
Diagnostics and app measurement
Annona uses a small set of Google Firebase services to keep the app working and to understand whether changes to it help. These never receive your meal plans, food preferences, or anything else you enter:
- Crashlytics — if the app crashes, it reports the crash: device model, OS version, and the code path that failed.
- Performance Monitoring — anonymous timings for app start and screen rendering.
- Analytics — a small number of app events, such as unlocking Premium. Used to measure whether a change improved the app.
- Remote Config — lets us change app settings and run A/B tests without shipping an update.
- Anonymous Authentication — if, and only if, you send feedback from the Settings screen, an anonymous ID is created so your message can be attributed to a single sender. It is not linked to your name or email.
These services are covered by Firebase's privacy documentation. You can see exactly what is sent and request its deletion — see Deleting your data.
What we don't do
- No collection of names, emails, contacts, photos or location
- No selling or sharing of personal data
- No sign-up, and no account or profile held about you
- No meal plans, food preferences or tracking data ever leaving your device
Children
Annona is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and the app asks no one — of any age — for identifying details.
Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices ever change — for example, if an optional account sync feature is added — this policy will be updated here first, and the "Last updated" date above will change. Material changes will also be called out in the app's release notes.
