Everything you need to know about planning, shopping and tracking with Annona. Most questions are answered below — the app itself also explains features as you meet them.
Planning your week
How does Annona decide what I eat?
During onboarding you pick the ingredients you love, the meals you actually eat (skip breakfast? skip it), how much cooking you're up for, and a daily calorie goal. The planner then assembles seven days from a library of 200+ meals, favoring high ingredient matches and days that land within about 50 kcal of your goal.
What does "Rebuild week" do — will I lose meals I like?
Rebuild generates a fresh week from your current tastes. To keep a meal
through a rebuild, pin it first: tap the ••• menu on the meal and
choose Pin. Pinned meals stay exactly where they are and the
planner fills in around them.
What is the "Use it up" panel?
Groceries come in packs — a loaf is 8 slices, a tub of yogurt is 5 servings. Use it up shows how much of each opened pack your week's meals actually consume, scaled to your household size.
If servings would go to waste, tap Swap meals to use it up and the planner exchanges a few meals (never pinned ones) so open packs get finished before they expire. It only makes a swap if it genuinely reduces waste.
What does the leaf button ("Optimize freshness") do?
It reorders your week so perishables are eaten while fresh — fish lands early in the week, hardy pantry meals later — assuming you shop at the start of the week. Your Monday–Sunday labels stay in place; only the meals move.
How do I swap a single meal?
Tap the ••• menu on any meal. Swap for… shows
same-slot alternatives near the same calories, Surprise me
picks one at random, and Eating out excludes the meal from
your totals and shopping list without removing it.
Swapping a lunch or dinner also offers yesterday's reheatable meals first — cook once, eat twice.
How does household size work?
Set it in Settings → Household (1–8 people). It scales pack consumption and the shopping list quantities — feeding four drains a tortilla pack twice as fast as feeding two, and the Use it up math accounts for that.
Tracking
How do I log what I ate?
Open the Today tab and tap a meal to check it off. Your calorie count and nutrient chips update instantly, and the weekly charts fill in as the week goes on.
I ate a meal that was planned for a different day.
Tap the calendar icon next to today's meal and pick what you actually ate. The two meals trade places in the plan and today's is checked off — your week stays accurate without any manual editing.
I ate something that isn't in my plan at all.
Same calendar icon — then either search the full meal library, or use "Or add your own" to enter a name and calories for anything else. It replaces the planned meal and is checked off automatically.
How do I change my calorie, protein or fiber goals?
Settings → Daily goals. Calories are always there; enable protein, fiber or full macros under Nutrition tracking to set gram targets for those too. Each goal appears as a line on its weekly chart in the Today tab.
Can I see nutrients I'm not tracking?
Yes — the protein/carbs/fat/fiber chips on the Today tab are tappable. Tapping one shows that nutrient's weekly chart even if it's not in your tracking preferences. Tap any bar in a chart to see that day's planned vs. eaten numbers.
How accurate are the calorie and macro numbers?
They're honest estimates for a typical single serving, not lab measurements. Portion sizes, brands and preparation change the real numbers. If you're tracking for medical reasons, verify against the packaging or a dietitian's guidance.
Purchases
What does Premium include, and what does it cost?
Premium is a single one-time purchase (no subscription). It removes all ads and unlocks the printable PDF of your week plan and shopping list. The exact price is shown in the app for your region.
I bought Premium but still see ads.
Open Settings → Restore Purchases. This re-checks your App Store or Google Play account and re-applies the purchase. Make sure you're signed into the same store account you bought with. If it still doesn't apply, force-quit the app and try once more — the stores occasionally take a few minutes to confirm.
How do refunds work?
Purchases are processed entirely by Apple and Google, so refunds go through
them: on iOS, visit reportaproblem.apple.com; on Android, use your
order history in Google Play.
Data & privacy
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up and no login. Your tastes, plans and tracking data are stored only on your device.
If I delete the app, is my data gone?
Yes. Because everything lives on-device, deleting the app deletes your plans and history with it. There is no cloud copy.
Why does the app ask about tracking on iOS?
The free version shows ads, and iOS requires apps to ask before an ad identifier can be used for personalization. Declining is fine — you'll simply see less relevant ads. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Which languages does the app support?
English, Español, Français, Deutsch, Italiano, Português, Русский, 日本語 and 中文. The app follows your system language and can be switched manually in Settings.
